PROGRAMS

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,

committed citizens can change the world;

indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”

                                                                    -Margaret Mead

We are currently planning our 2018 tour across the United States and will be including

community centers, schools, summer camps, festivals, conferences and more!

Pillars of Sustainability

All of Sustainable Skoolie Adventure's work focuses on our Pillars of Sustainability. These are the areas we believe most fully incorporate sustainable action, and as is everything else, are interconnected to create a sustainable world.

ENVIRO

LITERACY

Environmental literacy is the foundation of what we do. It is a baseline of environmental knowledge that all citizens of Earth should know. We believe a good education is the foundation for a good life.

CLIMATE

ACTION

Climate action refers to anything you do that lowers your carbon footprint. It doesn’t have to mean going to a protest (although that is an option), but it could just mean switching to LED lighting to save energy.

WASTE

REDUCTION

We produce a whole lot of waste in the United States, about 4.5 lbs each per day on average, and we don’t think a whole lot about where that waste goes once the truck picks it up. In reality there are tons of ways to keep things out of the landfill and keep our planet a little more green.

CONSCIOUS

CONSUMERISM

Many of us are taught to consume from a young age, from big box stores, to the mall, to fast food restaurants. How often do you think about everything it took for that product to make its way to you? Conscious Consumerism requires you to take a moment to research your products and know how it got from the Earth to your hands, and who may have been hurt along the way.

Community Leader Training

These workshops are for the leaders of the sponsoring community. During this 2 hour session, leaders will learn how to incorporate sustainability into their communal practice. With training in sustainability, community organizing, and exclusive resources, leaders will discover how to engage their communities in sustainable living practices, the basics of talking about climate change, and how to successfully create communal initiatives.

Teen Leader Training

The children are our future! Teens have so much to offer, if we give them the chance to shine. These trainings will give passionate teens the tools they need to make a difference in their school, community, city, state, or even the world. We believe teens can do anything they put their minds to, but only if they are encouraged and supported along the way. A great way to start a life of environmental activism!

Sustainability Audit

Our Sustainability Audits involve an in-depth investigation of the organization or institution's practices, concluding with a custom report on how to create systems of sustainability through changed practices.

Ongoing Support

We want to ensure our program participants are successful in making their community more successful.

For the first year after the program, sponsoring organizations will have access to:

  • 1 monthly check-in with our lead educator to make sure your community is on track

  • Ongoing email support with a dedicated participant support email address

Lifetime access to an online portal with exclusive materials just for community leaders
